On occassion, we get to restore woodwork that comes from manufacturers who obviously put their mark on automtotive history.  Not only were these vehicles manufactured in very limited quantities, but many of them excelled in styling and performance.....and often, as a crowning touch, they included woodwork in their interiors !

 

Here is the 1939 Bugatti Cabriolet woodwork in the car.  As you can see, the dash cap, the door panels and the "A" pillars have faded to a different color than the veneered dashboard. It is highly possible that the dashboard was previously restored, because the veneer had been sanded thru and stained a darker color.

As you can see, the finish has pretty much disappeared and you can see water damage on the Dash Cap and the "A" pillar. 

We Reveneered the Dash Cap and Dashboard of this 1939 Bugatti Cabriolet with Fiddleback Walnut.

The customer requested that the finish not completely fill the grain pattern so that it had the same finish texture as original.  Unfortunately the flash of the camera extremely exaggerated that effect in this picture.

This is a close-up of the dashboard so you can see how beautiful the grain pattern is.  The flash of the camera made it look more yellow that it really is.

The color in this close-up of the dashboard is correct.  The Fiddleback Walnut veneer is absolutely stunning.

As you can see from this picture and the other two above...the finish texture effect our customer wanted, is not as exaggerated as it was in the top picture.
