1963-1981 Mercedes-Benz 600 W100

What was thought to be beyond restoring -

- was Restored by Us -

Back to "Showroom New" Condition !!!!

We at Madera Concepts are proud offer you our automotive woodwork restoration service.

Restoring Mercedes-Benz woodwork is one of our specialties and sometimes we have a customer with woodwork that is in very bad condition.

Our customer feared that he would NEVER be able to restore his Mercedez-Benz 600, because without woodwork, restoring it would be fruitless..........

Most of the time, we are able to do effective repairs....But, If any parts are beyond repair, used parts must be located to complete the set.

In the case of this customer's woodwork, suitable used parts were non-existent - they were really happy that we were able to help them !!

Most of the pictures you see below...are "BEFORE" pictures.  Unfortunately, we were not able to get very many "After" pictures.  But you can see from those we did get...why our customer was so glad to have us do his woodwork restoration.
The  Lower Windshield Bow....was the worst part of the set.  At the top of this picture, you can see what was left of the section in front of the driver and all of the bits that used to be at the right end of the bow in front of the passenger.
At the top left in the picture below, you can see the Lower Windshield bow turned on its' side.  It had totally rotted apart !!!  The other pieces are the layers of veneer that made up the end that had rotted off.
Here is what the Right end of the Lower Windshield bow looked like AFTER we restored it.
The end in front of the driver had rotted and fallen apart too !
Here is what the Left end of the Lower Windshield bow looked like AFTER we restored it.  The Speaker Grille now looks like it did when it was new !!
The next series of pictures show you other parts that had suffered damage.  Coupled with the condition of the Lower Windshield Bow in the previous pictures, you can see why our customer thought that his woodwork was beyond all hope.
The clear finish and the "pretty" veneer just under the finish had fallen off in many areas on most of the parts.  Here you can see the finish gone and the veneer coming off the wood substrate of one door panel.  And the end of the other door panel was worse....the finish was gone, the veneer was gone and the wood substrate was splitting open.
Driver's side Quater Wood Trim.
No wonder our customer was worried.....
Passenger side Quarter Wood Trim.
Upper Windshield Bow and Speaker Grille.

Upper Windshield Bow, Speaker Grille and Lower Windshield Bow.  We laid "in place" a couple pieces of the rotted off ends, so you could see how the shape should look.
Upper Valances and Sunroof Trim
Left and Right Ends of the Upper Windshield Bow.
Corners were broken off some parts.
Below are the Dashboard panels.  Fortunately, they had not received as much damage as the other parts !!!

Below are a series of pictures showing how parts should look.  Please keep in mind that our customer chose the veneer and color.
Reinstalled in the car......  Our customer was thrilled with what we had done for him..!!!

Well, there you have it....  We are sorry we were not able to get pictures of all the parts, but hopefully you get the idea.

Normally, it is easier and cheaper to find used parts, but in the case of the Lower Windshiel Bow one was not available and our craftsmen put everything they had into rebuilding what would normally be scrapped and replaced.  They put their talents to work repairing and restoring all of the other parts.
Our customer feared that he would NEVER be able to restore his Mercedez-Benz 600, because without woodwork, restoring it would be fruitless.  But we saved the day, for him....and his restoration is now complete !!!!!!
